Any Questions are Always Welcome: (970) 689-5671 9:00 a.m. - 9 p.m. MST seven days a week These flutes are made in England, and both my tech. and I agree that they are exceptional quality. The following is taken from the Trevor James website: "We are the UK’s leading specialist flute company with over 30 years of experience in design, manufacture and distribution. Our priority remains to ensure that the tonal and manufacturing quality of each and every Trevor James flute will enhance the dedicated effort put into the study and performance of flute players around the World." About This Model:
You may wonder what the difference is between this model and the Virtuoso, since the specs are similar between the two flutes. This Recital II model is a professional level handmade flute with many more man-hours of time being put into the manufactuing process, while the Virtuoso goes through a completely different process with far less attention to the finer details (the large difference ends up being mostly in the quality of the mechanism). The Virtuoso is only considered to be in the "Performance" series, while the Recital II is categorized with the models in the "Professional" series. A flute tech. will tell you that there ends up being a big difference in quality between the two. Specs for This Flute: -Similar to the newer handmade Recital II Aria model (the only difference is that the newer Recital II Aria has soldered tone holes) -Made in 2008 -Silver head, body and foot -Silver-plated mechanism -Handcut Headjoint (Flutemakers Guild of London) -Pointed key arms -Drawn Tone Holes -B Foot -Offset G -White gold springs -A=442 -comes with original Trevor James slimline case and outer case cover (both in excellent condition). A cleaning rod and removable plugs for the holes will be included. History/Condition: The owner of this flute is a clarinet player who has also had an interest in learning to play the flute. She bought this new in 2008 thinking she would have time to enjoy it, but as life took some different turns, she ended up only playing it once for a short time. It is in excellent used condition, and has just been cleaned and checked over by my tech. (new head cork and other regular-maintenance items) ($101 worth of servicing...typical for a flute that has been safely stored away for a few years). Playability: Just as expected with a handmade Trevor James flute, this has a beautiful clear and colorful tone in all registers, and it plays with a light touch all the way down to the low B. The response is clean and crisp, making the flute an absolute joy to play. This flute plays just as if it had a split-e. It is so well-built that the high E plays well and does not crack easily, even with lots of volume. I also really enjoyed the smooth mechanism, making quick passages of any kind easy to play. Price: A similar model (Trevor James Recital II Aria) sells new for $4695. Asking $3200 plus reasonable shipping fee for this Recital II. Considering reasonable offers.
