Taken from Powell's website: "Powell® Handmade Custom flutes have been the “gold standard” of the flute world for more than eight decades. Instruments made in the 1920s are still being played today. Powell instruments are celebrated for their color, tone, ease of response and reliability." Specs: -Sterling Silver Dana Sheridan Head -Custom Handmade Sterling Silver Powell Body, Foot and Mechanism (completed in 1978) -Open-Hole -Pointed key arms -B-Foot w/ gizmo -In-Line G -C# Trill -Soldered Tone Holes -Cooper Scale -Heavy Wall (.018") -High E Facilitator (G disc) -A=440 Comes with its original slimline case, and outer carrying case, both in very good condition. A cleaning rod and removable plugs for the holes are included. Condition and History: This beautiful flute has been meticulously cared-for and well-maintained. Jeffrey Schmalz, owner of the New England Flute Shop, examined it and gave his approval to the second owner before she originally bought it (he's picky!), and he has just finished servicing it so that it plays beautifully in all registers. It is in excellent used condition with no dings or dents, and only minor surface wear (as expected, from normal use). The pads are in excellent condition. The owner is only selling it because she owns two custom handmade Powells, and, rather than having this one stored away, she would like to see it being played and enjoyed by someone. Playability: Both the owner of this flute, and myself, like the option of being able to play with a lot of volume. The Dana Sheridan headjoint offers some resistance, which is perfect for someone who wants the option of being able to project, or to play quietly. The flute offers a very unique tone quality with many opportunites for color and dynamics. I had a lot of fun over the last few days experimenting with all of the possibilities for variations of sound while "getting to know" this flute. Please feel free to click on the links to the videos above to hear samples (please excuse any human error :) ). The mechanism on this flute is very impressive; it is extremely quick and smooth. One still has to be a good player on difficult passages (too bad this doesn't fix the "problem areas" in my technique) , but it certainly helps to have such a well-crafted instrument! Price:
Asking $7,995. This flute is also available without the headjoint for $6995. Asking $1100 for the headjoint by itself. Money Back Guarantee
