This beautiful professional Powell flute has a handmade Aurumite headjoint with a 9k rose gold riser and lip plate, and 9k gold bonded inner headjoint, along with the following:

About Aurumite:

(From Powell's Description) "Through a patented fusion process, Powell produces flute tubing made of interlocking layers of gold and silver. Known as Aurumite, this material combines the projection of silver with the warmth of gold."

So, because the layers are fused together, rather than being mixed together or plated, the flute has the qualities of the brightness of silver and warmth and resonance of gold all in one.

Many people find that the Aurumite is helpful when playing with intensity, as it helps to prevent the notes from cracking as easily.  If you're looking to be able to play with a lot of volume and a rich sound, this flute would be great.  Please feel free to request a video of it flute being played.  

General Information:

This was cleaned, oiled and adjusted by flutist/professional repair tech.  It is in excellent condition, with no dings or dents, and only has the very fine surface scratches that are found on any used flute (see photos at the bottom of this page (click to enlarge)).  The pads are in very good condition, and they seal well with a light touch all the way down to low b.

(Powell's Description) "The 2100 series was made w/ more modern looking angular shaped mechanism to celebrate the turn of the millenium, and then discontinued in December 2001 as the mellennium had passed.  It was replaced by the Handmade Conservatory Flute, which is a return to the more traditional flute design."

This flute has a Q headjoint, which compares to the Boston and the Soloist (both very similar to one another): freeblowing, open, and easier to play.   It offers less resistance than the Philharmonic headjoint.  

Comes with original Powell wood case (in excellent condition) and Jean Cavallero cover, also in very good condition.  A metal cleaning rod and plugs for the holes are included as well.

My understanding is that a comparable current model, new, would cost around $7800 on-line.  The starting bid on ebay is $4600, and the "buy it now price" is $5100.
